# Search and filters

> How list pages remember what you searched for, and how to clear it in one click.

Most work in MerchantOps starts by narrowing a long list — the products you own
this season, the price records for one brand, the Lakehouse rows a vendor just
sent. This page explains how that narrowing behaves: what is remembered, what
never is, and how to reset it.

## Your filters are remembered

Search terms, column filters, date ranges and sort survive leaving a page. Open a
product from the list, come back, and the list is still narrowed the way you left
it. Close the tab and return tomorrow and it is still there. The setting is
per person and per page — a colleague's narrowing is never yours.

The pages that remember are the ones you filter hardest: **Products**, **Price
records**, **Lakehouse products**, **Jobs**, **Lakehouse documents**, **Catalog
batches** and **Price batches**.

<Note>
  On **Products**, **Price records** and **Lakehouse products**, a restored list
  also says so: a muted **Restored from your last visit** line sits beside the
  result count, and it disappears the moment you change something yourself. On
  every page listed above, the **Clear all** button carries a badge with the number
  of active criteria — so a surprisingly small result count is explainable rather
  than alarming.
</Note>

## A link always wins

If you open a page from a link that already carries filters — a URL a colleague
pasted into chat, a bookmark, a **Back** navigation — that link is the whole
truth. Your own saved filters are not applied on top of it.

This is the rule that makes sharing a list safe: the person you send a link to
sees exactly the rows you saw, never your rows re-narrowed by their own saved
search.

## What is never remembered

<ResponseField name="The page you were on" type="always page 1">
  Coming back puts you at the top of the results, not on page 7 of a list that
  may have changed underneath you.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Your selection" type="checkboxes reset">
  Rows you had ticked, and any dialog that was open.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="A pasted list of keys" type="one-off lookup">
  Looking up a specific set of products is a one-time question, not a standing
  filter.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Working-in-a-batch mode" type="a task, not a filter">
  Arriving on a list *in the context of a batch* — from **Create batch**, for
  example — is a task you are in the middle of, so it is never restored on a
  later visit. See [Price batches](/pricing/price-batches).
</ResponseField>

## Clear all

Every one of those pages carries a **Clear all** button at the right end of the
toolbar. It is always visible, and disabled when nothing is filtering you — so
the question "is something narrowing this list?" is answered at a glance rather
than by hunting through popovers.

One click resets the search term, every column and combobox filter, any date or
temporal filter, a pasted key list, the page number and your selection. It acts
immediately, without a confirmation.

<Tip>
  Clear all deliberately keeps your **sort order** and **view mode**. Those are
  preferences about how you like to read a list, not criteria narrowing it.
