# Content settings

> Set the tone, structure, and guardrails MerchantOps uses when it generates product content.

Content settings are your organization's preferences for AI-generated product
content — the tone, structure, and limits that enrichment follows when it writes
descriptions and features. They're set once for your organization and applied
whenever MerchantOps generates content, so results stay consistent with your
brand. You need content-settings permission to view them, and write permission
to change them.

## What you can configure

<ResponseField name="Tone of voice">
  The overall voice for generated copy (for example professional or casual). You
  can also supply a short custom description to steer the tone more precisely.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Description structure">
  The sections a generated description is organized into — each with a heading
  and instructions for what belongs in it — so descriptions follow a consistent
  shape across products.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Brand guidelines">
  Free-text guidance MerchantOps should honor when writing — phrasing to prefer
  or avoid, claims to steer clear of, and other house rules.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Feature style and limits">
  How product features are presented (for example as a bulleted list) and caps
  on how many features to generate and how long a description may run.
</ResponseField>

<ResponseField name="Approved AI models">
  Which AI models MerchantOps is allowed to use for your organization's content
  generation.
</ResponseField>

<Note>
  Content settings shape *how* content is written, not *whether* a given field is
  overwritten. Enrichment still merges sources by priority and protects values you
  entered yourself. See [How enrichment works](/enrichment/how-it-works) for that
  model.
</Note>

## Scope

Content settings apply at the **organization level** — one configuration for your
whole organization. Per-product-type overrides are not available yet; all
generated content uses your organization's settings.

If you clear your organization's content settings, MerchantOps falls back to
sensible built-in defaults rather than leaving content generation unconfigured.
